After having finished the crucial part of my exams I finally did what I promised.
The logo I created from Downward's sketch has won in the final round and so I have to fulfill my promise to provide several versions of the logo. As discussed earlier the colored logo might need a recoloring but first of all I've created a black&white and a stroke version, which can be used anywhere in all colors we like. All with slightly reduced complexity.

Below a little gallery. First the black&white logo, then the stroke version in several different color schemes (yes, a few look a bit nerdy but it's just for the sake of demonstration ;-)). Click on one of the logos below to see a higher quality version.
Unfortunately I can't attach the SVGs here but I'll upload them to my server.

This is great! And this ticks off one of the three things required to get out an official release:
  • Rebrand all the text from Songbird to Nightingale - stevo has done this
  • Change the logos/images - stevo was waiting on these
  • Create a new default feather and remove PurpleRain - stevo is working on this

I'm looking forward to this list getting finished, because then we can move into a proper project phase rather than everything hanging on the required work of a few people for legal reasons.

Yeah, Nightingale makes progress though it still doesn't compile on my system. :-)
If you want I could also participate a bit in creating the feather. I'm a web designer, not a XUL writer but perhaps I could help a bit for design and usability.

I'll work on the logos a little more the next days also coming up with versions suitable for very small icon sizes such as 16x16 pixels (maybe a modification and the original for 32x32 pixels and above).

I've created two new colored versions, one coppery and one purple.
I'd prefer the purple version as the coppery one might look a bit like a bird that has fallen into a pile of excrement. However, in some situation that version might work as well.

Further on I removed that shadowy thing from the note head (also in the exports in my posting above) and provided a few more stroke versions on a transparent background.

I think the stroke version doesn't work so well as application icon but as a logo for the website and other branding stuff it might be great.

I've created three versions with text. The font is Ayita Pro. I also experimented a bit with Expressway but then decided on Ayita Pro. I think that's the way to go. Ayita Pro is a serious but not formal font. It expresses flexibility but also reliability.

The slogan is not fixed. It's just something that came to my mind accidentally. I also played around with something like "Get your tune" or so (which I think is even better since it's shorter) but unfortunately that was to short for the design. Wink

I was looking forward to seeing your work Manko10. And that's cool ! Cool

Personally I prefer the coopery logo because it looks like... a nightingale. The slogan is fine too.

A colleague of mine also told me that he likes the coppery more and actually I chose that color because nightingales are brownish. If you think we'd go with that, that's totally fine. However, I think the purple bird looks a bit more precious.
