Err... what about if some nouns may have multiple meanings? If I can't understand the context, I could make wrong translation. Am I free to try by luck or what?

You should not guess meanings while translating, but translate using the string's context. Usually, you can guess the context by the ids of the strings (and by comparing with the strings with similar ids). If that doesn't help, you can either ask specifically (here or in irc) or search through the NG code using the id of the string, to see where it is used.

Once there are multiple translators for a locale (that's not the case for this locale right now), you post your guesses as suggestions so that other translators can approve the correct version for you.

Another question: In front of characters like 3-dots or apostrophe, should I copy and paste the actual characters or write their HTML entities?

Afaik en-US is working everywhere. Thus, you should be fine copying whatever en-US is doing. If unicode ellipsis is used, use that in your translation as well. If a string contains entities (i.e. &brandShortName;), always keep that entity.

Last question, I think (I write a new post in order to catch your attention in case you've already read my previous post):
Keyboard shortcuts and Hotkeys are not the same thing. However, French and Spanish translations don't differentiate that. What should I do?
I report French and Spanish because I can barely understand them. Maybe things are different in German.

Hm. From the definitions I read everyone defines the terms differently. In german, there are no specific words to use; thus we also map both to the same german word.

In Nightingale (English has no general definition of the terms from what I found), "keyboard shortcuts" refers to the static set of combinations you can use to invoke stuff, often (but in contrast to the Microsoft definition not always) these are the ones involving the ALT key. In contrast to that, "hotkey" is used for the user-defined combinations, that may apply system-wide (while keyboard shortcuts require Nightingale to have the keyboard focus). If you can express that in the italian language, go for it; but do not try to enforce the difference if it doesn't sound natural.

Oh well, I'll translate literally the word "hotkeys" with "tasti chiave", "key keys" in English where "key" defines the importance, and "keys" defines the buttons on the keyboard. I really don't like to call two different things with the same name.

EDIT: Italian localization should be fine now. I cannot test every string just because some features are missing in current Nightingale release, like device management. I think I'll try a nightly release.
