I've failed in attempting to build an add-on to allow global menu integration, and I just thought I'd let people know in case anyone had the same idea. I'm actually using the global menu in KDE, but AFAIK the add-on should be the same as the one used for Unity.
In Firefox, to allow integration into the global menu of KDE, you also need to enable the "Global Menu Bar integration" add-on for it to work. I thought perhaps I could use this add-on and apply it to Nightingale, and it might… just… work… But it didn't.
I had a look at the package with `$ dpkg -L firefox-globalmenu`, and there were a whole lot of files in /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions/globalmenu@ubuntu.com . I hacked the install.rdf file, zipped them, changed the extension to .xpi, then installed it in Nightingale. It installed fine, but upon restarting, nothing happened. Oh well…
I also grepped the folder for "thunderbird", and only found the install.rdf entry. (I thought there might be another specific reference to the programs that is required.)
