the database error occurs probably also when no corrupt items are in your library.
We identified the bug to be metatags related. Possibly embedded covers or ratings. Could you please check the metadata of your mp3s?

Once it crashes, the last several dozen entries in the library have NO meta data - the only thing the playlist shows is blankness... unless I tell it to also show the file location - that, it displays just fine.

Sounds like #65, as freaktechnik pointed out already. Probably the issue is based on the taglib dependency, which we need to replace with a recent version anyway. Also, the windows dependencies are not built by us, we use the Songbird ones. This might be one key to the solution: 1. replace & reintegrate Songbird features 2. rebuild all by us. When reintegrating stuff is needed, it is probably a good time to look into some other issues there (from the backend point of view, without interface changes for now) as multiple tag values support, custom fields, etc. These features then would come into the frontend with Nightingale 2.x.
