At the moment I have a VM running on a windows 7 computer. I can try installing an archlinux in VirtualBox and run the build you send me. Besides, I will have to reinstall the arch on my system at some time since I have a badly partitioned hard disk. I will see, what I'll be able to do.

No, I use pacman.

Sometimes you can have packages that aren't installed right...have you tried force reinstalling the deps?

I reinstalled all deps, fully migrated to systemd and cleaned up my system. I am pretty sure that it is running very clean now.
Since it is some time ago, I'd like to summarize the problem:

Effects:
→ no playback
→ segmentation fault, reproducible (core dumps)
→ no loading of MP3 files
→ behavior is similar to a previously recognized bug

System:
→ arch x64
→ openbox
→ system is up to date

But, the same build works on at least one similar system, what makes me think about missing deps.
Which desktop environment do you use?

Regards Polly

Not necessary. I did the following:

I downloaded the source via git. Then I build the actual stable version. After that I got the playback error: audiosink-bin not working. Google yields: install gstreamer0.10-base-plugins. I did and the build started working. (playback OK, import of MP3 files OK) I'll still have to observe, whether it still segfaults. The build you send me still doesn't work. If you know, that nightingale needs glib, please add glib and gstreamer0.10-base-plugins to the deps in AUR.

I'll give some feedback after testing nightingale for a while. If problems occur, I will let you know.

Cheers

OK I couldn't localize it yet, but I still have a few segfaults. I tried the new package from AUR, but doesn't work either.

Facts:

→ building with the following code leads to broken version (from the packagebuild):
Code:
make -f nightingale.mk
→ building via the included build.sh gives a non-perfect but primary working version

Hence, there must be some difference between the ways to build nightingale that leads to serious problems. (missing deps for nightingale.mk, errors in nightingale.mk??)

Cheers Polly

Doubtful. I'm thinking that maybe your system is just messed up or something? Other than the GTK dep that I think is included, we should be fine.

I know they've been monkeying around with menus and things...maybe some recent commits broke something? Try using git-bisect or git log and revert some stuff and see how it works then.

Removed sticky and closing here, as 1.12 was released some time ago.
