I have all required packages installed from the official arch repos. Maybe there is a missing build dependency? I read in the entry in AUR (nightingale-git at aur.archlinux.org) that there are good builds from the same tarball. I will try a package build by some other members to check whether I have a missing dependency or a missing build dependency.

I had a try with a good package being build on another arch x86_64 machine, presumably working there. See aur.archlinux.org/packages/nightingale-git. I didn't work on my machine, in particular it showed exactly the same behaviour a the other packages before.
Hence I can exclude a missing build dependency. I will try to figure out why it still segfaults and refuses to play tracks.

It could possibly be a missing runtime dependency, I suppose...but I am 90% sure I have them all there...

How do I find out which dependencies might be missing? I can of course try (install and deinstall after rty again) all candidates fom the list and check whether something changes. Actually, no, I don't have any program having glib as dependency. Hence, I don't have it.
Is there another, maybe more elegant way to determine missing parts?

I'm not entirely sure, I sort of doubt it...

Did you try installing glib? I believe it's one of the makedepends I put in the pkgbuild...if not, I KNOW you need it.

Installed glib, no change. I tried sequently installing all packages mentioned in the trunk you posted and checking, but I didn't succeed.
Any ideas, which packages could be missing? In principle we could compare lists of installed packages.

This Issue was already discussed here:

http://forum.getnightingale.com/thread-491.html

Is the mentioned fix already part of the source downloaded by the AUR Tarball? I presumed so, but my build (and the build, ilikenwf dropped for me) show a very similar behaviour.

It is in the source...

I'm really not sure how you're having these issues. I'm on a near identical system, Arch 64, etc etc, with no issues. I'm really stumped.

I dond't know either. It seems kind of weird. Maybe it is related to the space I have left on my system partition (I can't imagine why 740MB should be too less)?

From another point of view I don't understand why mp3 files are not added to the library, even though I have all deps installed. Maybe this is a point to look for. How was the previous issue I mentioned solved? For me, it doesn't look like an accident?!

Do you, by chance, have a VM setup or the ability to set one up with a fresh arch install and see if it works there?

And you're using yaourt?
