Perhaps the problem is upstream of the mail delivery? We could do some further troubleshooting if you post in this thread, which does appear in my "Thread Subscriptions With New Posts". If I get a notification, that might be informative.
I don't want to mess in unrelated threads, so I dislike that idea. I experienced a weird situation while testing the issue: I can't subscribe to this thread due to an "Authorization code mismatch". Can you subscribe using the link at the bottom of the thread?

Please post the last message of that style anyway, as there might be a detail causing the issue. This includes too long filenames, special characters, etc.

I wasn't speaking of the sync target folder. There seems to be a issue accessing the last message's folder (last message of the style you got so many), so there might be some privileges screwed up for just this folder. It is not likely, but on Windows Vista were such issues in rare cases (bugs in their filesystem implementation or whatever).

It says that I'm already subscribed.

I'm not sure if it's important, but most entries list the Artist directory, then the Album subdirectory. The final artist (Built To Spill) does not have any Albums listed in the log. I checked their songs/albums, but couldn't see anything obvious. I guess I could try excluding this artist and see what happens? Also, in what order does the sync progress? It doesn't seem to be alphabetical.

I'm using Linux, but I did check permissions with
Code:
$ ls -lR ~/Music/Nightingale/ | awk '{print $1 $3 $4}'|sort|uniq|grep -v Nightingale
and everything seems normal (read and write permission for myself, everything owned by me).

The code here enumerates the file system on the iPod Classic. This is only a internal order within the file system (fat?) afaik, the API does not grant any order.

Could you post the result of
Code:
cd /media/iPodClassic/music/Built To Spill
ls -al
or a similar command? The file/folder content here seems to cause the issue.

Ah yes! There was a corruption of that directory.
Code:

That fixed up the problem for me, and the sync now progresses further, up to "Sync completed with errors". I checked the sizes of the two folders, and they are both 56.8 GB, although the iPod has 13771 items, as opposed to 12148 items in my main music library. I did a quick skim of differences, and this discrepancy may be caused by the storage of cover images on the ipod.

Nevertheless, subsequent syncs are still throwing up "Sync failed: undefined". Here are the last few messages.

Code:
FolderSync: Event raised in 'sync-sync':
Copy '/home/lee/Music/Nightingale/Built To Spill/There's Nothing Wrong With Love/12 Stab.mp3' to '/media/iPodClassic/music/Built To Spill/There's Nothing Wrong With Love' with the name '12_Stab.mp3'

Also, I'm having (more) troubles trying to get Rockbox to save the history of played tracks, so can't verify the backsync yet. I'll post in the Rockbox forums and see what response I get, then report back here regarding this.

As for the thread subscription, I tried to click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page, in the hope that I could reset my subscription, but it told me "Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again."

It looks like there is a issue in the Rockbox code - it has troubles to read and/or write to your rockbox library. There are two possible errors: Your database has issues (which would also be an explanation for your database not getting written properly) or the code is not compartible to your database.
The Rockbox code was contributed by a songbird user some time ago (ChrisSavery), and I don't have a Rockbox device to test. So I really hope it is the first one.
The only thing I could offer you is adding more debug messages into the rockbox code, which might bring us on the right track. But probably it is a good idea to wait for your Rockbox-internal issues to get solved first.

Okay no worries. I'll report back when I have more information.
And just after I registered at the Rockbox forums, the internal history started working!

I tried playing a few songs, but the backsync with NG did not work. If there's a possibility that my Rockbox internal database is corrupt, then I'm happy to attempt a reinstall (there's nothing important on my iPod).
