Amazing job, sparhawk!

The addon works like a charm and it's exactly what I was looking for when requested.
BTW, minimize button does send Nightingale to tray for me (Xubuntu 11.10). If you need some further testing, just say it.

Again, thanks for your contribution to the community Wink

Thanks. Probably it is a good idea to leave this thread open for feedback and further progress?!

I feel a bit embarrassed. All I did was change a text file, then upload the results. But I'm glad I could help you! Smile

I've added that information to the wiki. I'm not actually a real dev, so no real testing needs to be done for my sake. Cheers for the offer though!

Sounds good. I'm not sure if you wanted a link from the wiki to here? I guess people would just find the thread though...

Slightly related, slightly off-topic: on Mac, when you close the window with the [x] sign, applications normally keep running (and showing only their menu bar without a window) until you right-click their icon in the dock and click 'quit'.
XULRunner applications normally just close, unless you create some additional XUL files which provide an empty window and the menubar.
When quickly looking at the source, I didn't see those files.
Can someone confirm the behaviour of NG on Mac when using the close button?

I'm on Linux, so can't help you there, sorry.
Also, I've found another issue with this add-on. It doesn't work so well with the media keys workaround (using the "command line support" add-on), that I posted earlier.

To summarise, I use
Code:
/path/to/applications/nightingale/nightingale -pause
to play/pause Nightingale. This normally keeps the Nightingale window in the background. However, when Nightingale is minimised to the tray, it will restore, steals focus and jump to the front.

Apparently, GeekShadow is working on a solution to the lack of media keys support, so hopefully this will fix the bug.

I couldn't get Minimize to Tray++ to work. Does this addon work on the Windows version? If not, is there an easy fix, or another addon that would allow me to use this feature?

I guess it doesn't probably doesn't work in Windows. From your link: "MinimizeToTray++…Linux fork by…" I guess you might be able to find the original Windows add-on and port it to Nightingale yourself.

As we have an archive of Songbird add-ons, which is not public due to legal reasons, I extracted and pushed the add-on:
.xpi   minimize3f74.xpi (Size: 83.39 KB / Downloads: 338) .

Note that the context menu does not seem to work with dumb pushing. If somebody wants to fix that and move it to the main add-on page that would be great.

I noticed that it said linux, but since it's cross-platform, I thought it may be using an API or something, or maybe there was an easy fix to port it across OS's. Thanks though.

rsjtdrjgfuzkfg: Thanks very much! Testing it out now.

Edit: And it works flawlessly for my needs. That's some great community support Smile
