I'm trying to create a modern looking version of the rubberducky theme (the Songbird 0.6 version). I'm only half way along or so, but if anyone is feeling nostalgic for the "good old days." You can try this partially finished theme. I'll post something in the add-ons section, when I get something that looks more presentable. I called it gummibear to keep it from being confused with the now dead rubberducky theme.

EDIT: I've updated the theme.

Mhm, I have actually missed this theme. I will try tommorow, don't have the right computere here.
Edit: Installed it right now, and it looks quite good. There is only three things I am a but unsure about. First I think that the play/next/previous buttons should be bigger. It also looks like if they are a little bit too deep. There is also some white borders around the menus which I think should be in the same color as the background, or at least more gray. The last thing I see is that the text on the the sidebar with playlists, devices and so on is a bit to white. It kind of stands to much out for my eyes. There are also some black lines around the tabs and under the menubar which seems a bit wrong? And some of the buttons and graphics are a little bit to similar to Purple Rain, or am I wrong?
I might be a bit to conservative here, and most of these things I have said are only minor problems.

Anyway, its a very good piece of work, and I will definitively use it even in the state it is now. In fact, it was the theme that grabbed my attention when I first started looking at Songbird, and I have missed it since they replaced it. Thank you Big Grin

This is by no means a finished product. I'm only about half way finished at the moment. And I don't know how to change the layout from purplerain to something more like the rubberducky layout. I'm trying to make sure things look at least consistant and then I'm going to worry about refining. I'll try to post an updated version later. Next semester starts on the 9th, so however far I get by then will be whatever the finished product looks like. If anyone has any experience with design or theming in general, I would appreciate the help.

For relayouting tips, you might consider SimplyBlack, since it moves the browser/command/whatever bar up.

There a number of challenges with making a theme that looks like rubberducky. For one thing the way that themes are defined has changed drastically since the days of rubberducky. What I've done is essentially take the default nightingale theme and changed it piece by piece to look more like rubberducky. I used an old Windows build of Songbird 0.6 with the rubberducky theme as a guide to try and make a new theme. Some elements such as the horizontal and vertical splitters were not present in the original theme so, I just tried to make something that fit in with the overall look of the theme. I've done most of the major changes that I can do myself. Someone with more design, css, and xul knowledge is needed to make the theme look as good as possible.

Oh nice Smile I once tried to make a Rubberducky feather based on gonzo feather (SB 0.7)

I even called it Gonzoducky, but due to a lack of motivation I never took time to finish it and later Purple Rain was released.

It looked like this :

I'm trying to get the buttons to look connected together like in the original rubberducky, but I have to be able to make the play/pause button bigger than the rest, in order for the look to work. But, I can't seem to find how to increase the height of the media control pane (to compensate for the larger button size) and increase the size the maximum allowed size of buttons in the media control pane. Anyone have any ideas of what I need to change?

I posted the feather onto the addons page because I can't think of any more changes that I personally am able to make. If any one wants to make any changes, feel free to do so.

For simplyBlack I used some css hack to get the gonzoish different sizes. But on gonzo, and so I guess on rubberducky, the size of the pane is the same than in purple rain.
The hack is part of http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/@api/deki/f...o-look.css

Maybe that helps you to get the look you have in mind... Smile
