Hello,

When starting Nightingale the application gives me a dialogue box saying that it is unable to start because "library is corrupt and cannot be read" and offers the option to delete the library. if I select this option there is a pause then the application loops to the same error dialogue. This issue is found on first use and all subsequent uses.

Additionally if I opt to continue without deleting the library then trying to use the watch list to import my media doesn't appear to import anything (set up the appropriate path agree to scan and then nothing happens) and the same media library doesn't seem to be accepted even if I manually select an mp3 to play.

All in all I'm at a roadblock...

Thanks for any advice you may offer.

We ran into this bug previously...are you on Windows?

Our devs will look at it and we'll post something here - hopefully we'll have a fix shortly Smile

Eww...then it's a new old issue...

Do you have sqllite installed? Also make sure you have the gstreamer and it's plugins as well.

libsqlite3.0
libgstreamer0.10-0
phonon-backend-gstreamer 4.4.4
gstreamer0.10-alsa
libgstreamer-plugins-base 0.10-0
gstreamer0.10.x
gstreamer0.10 plugins-bad-multiverse
gstreamer0.10 pitfdll
gstreamer0.10 plugins-ugly
gstreamer0.10 plugins-good
gstreamer0.10 plugins-base
gstreamer0.10 plugins-ugly-multiverse
gstreamer0.10 plugins-bad

All the above are installed so I don't think I have anything relevant missing...I may be wrong but I hope the above detail will help spot anything amiss.

I got the same error yesterday and therefore created a new build. For 64-bit, are you sure you're using the current tar.bz2 from https://github.com/downloads/nightingale...64.tar.bz2 ?
I created that one on Gentoo AMD64 and tested it successfully on Ubuntu and Mint. The i686 from here https://github.com/downloads/nightingale...686.tar.gz worked fine on Fedora 32-bit.

I still get the same error with that build, I'll try compiling it myself later to see if an error comes up during building that could explain it.

I guess it's due to incompatible versions of SQLite.

In the past, I found that there is something which makes Debian/Ubuntu different from other distros, I just can't put my finger on it. Ubuntu compiled Nightingale code will run perfectly on both Debian and Ubuntu, but will give the "corrupt library" error on OpenSuse and Fedora. I would try running a binary build that was compiled on Ubuntu and see if that works.
