At the moment Songbird opens videos in a new window, wouldn't it be better if the videos were opened in the area above the playlist the area in music mode used for MediaFlow or Filter View or in the area in the corner where the cover art is displayed in music mode?
I would then allow you to preview videos without loosing sight of the playlist which happens at the moment if the resolution of the video is too large. It also means you don't duplicate the player controls unless the video is in fullscreen mode which is a good thing as the hover video player controls are quite buggy in Songbird 1.8.
Another thing is to implement proper tag writing for videos in Nightingale as Songbird can't write tags at the moment. I use tagtheora to tag my videos at the moment as they are all ogv's.
