But I would like to help any way I can, including finding souls who know build .deb if necessary ...

We do know how to build a .deb...
In order to get into the ubuntu software center we need to get into the debian repos. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1190146
We have not yet started an effort to be accepted into the debian packaging repos.
EDIT: We seem to be in some kind of requested packages list though: https://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/requested.en.html

where he can upload the package ?
