Personally I think the service pane is for what it means, services.
Each service have a group name, and allow the user to access music, playlists, devices, concerts, digital shop etc.

Once on Songbird there was a web bookmarks group, and I really liked this feature.
I think we could bring back this feature, and also adding some "home page" with search feature for users.
So for me, the service pane should allow not only to browse media, but also the web.
As displayed on the left with small icons it's both representing features, applications and content.

They are only size up to 32x32 and looks awful.

We are looking for new icons and eventually a "Nightly build" icon too.

Mozilla is also doing the same, they are likely to get ride of the old installer icon which is featuring a software box with a CD.

I am wondering since there are now two feathers available on the web site, where can I find others that can be converted or changed to work with Nightingale (I checked the songbird site and only found 3 marked for linux).

Is there a guide for converting these three or actually designing new ones.

The only reason I ask is that I would like to have the option of being able to add new feathers to my instalation and if they work, contribute them for others to use.

Is the design of the timeline is broken or is it just a problem of my Ubuntu configuration (Compiz, Metacity)?

EDIT: Added a 2nd picture because I found out that the displayed mesh in the timeline depends on what was on this position on the window overlapping the timeline before. But the Soundline (linke in pic 3) is normal!

currently I'm struggling with Adobe Fireworks bugs to create a new feather for Nightingale. :-)
I'm not finished with it yet, but I will in the next few days. Attached the sketch from which I'm currently developing a computer generated prototype (bad quality, I know, the photo has been shot with my Desire S and I must not upload more than 500kB here - but you know: it's just a sneak peek).

The feather will be very different from Songbird's and more native (but not quite). I'm trying to satisfy the desire for a nice looking, precious and interesting, not boring interface as well as the desire for an application that doesn't look like an alien on most desktops.

As discussed earlier the colored logo might need a recoloring but first of all I've created a black&white and a stroke version, which can be used anywhere in all colors we like. All with slightly reduced complexity.

Below a little gallery. First the black&white logo, then the stroke version in several different color schemes (yes, a few look a bit nerdy but it's just for the sake of demonstration ;-)). Click on one of the logos below to see a higher quality version.

1. We need an application icon that fits well with the Linux desktops (gnome, kde, xfce, lxde, etc). Keep in mind the different places this application will go (ie panels, menus, desktop, docky, awn etc.)
2. We need that same application available in sizes from 16x16 to 512x512.
3. It should represent a default colour scheme, I am thinking purples, browns and blacks like what we have for the web page.
4. This logo should be easily adaptable to what ever we need, web page logo, stickers, shirts, etc.
5. The Nightingale Project will have permission to use this logo as needed

Once this is done I will post a poll with them.
