Hi,
Before i start, i would like to say that i am very happy to see a songbird clone for linux. i had been using songbird during my windows days and frankly speaking, i loved it. when i converted to linux, i was sorry to leave songbird behind but now i am very happy to see nightingale running on my system (even though i had some trouble trying to install).
Coming to my problem, i have just installed the latest version of nightingale and have it running, but if i try to install ANY addon, i get an error saying "xyz could not be installed because it is incompatible with nightingale 2.2.0a". i had the same problem when i tried to do it with the previous version (when you changed the dependencies).
So, could someone tell me if its a problem with my nightingale or is it affecting all the people here?
Also, is there an way to import banshee ratings (written onto the mp3 file) into nightingale, coz it does not pick up the ratings.

2.2 is not a release version. The add-ons you tried refer probably to another version number. You can add support by opening the xpi file with a zip archiver and changing the maximum version number in the install.rdf file.
Note that we plan to use 1.11.1 for the next release, and will do the 2.0 step with a more recent xulrunner. The branch you used for building is the one we keep in sync with Songbird, which is already at 2.x. Sorry for the confusion.

The rating thing: currently no. After the taglib change it will pick up ratings stored as "NIGHTINGALE-RATING", which is more consistent than it was before. So you could try to move the banshee ratings to the "NIGHTINGALE-RATING" field. We currently do not support reading ratings from other applications, as there's no good standard for that except the popularimeter field in id3v2.4 which is hard to implement currently.
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
We haven't released yet, but there is probably a testing build out there now which has the new taglib patches...note that we're different from Songbird on all platforms in that we actually fix our bugs
That said, we still need a mac...and a mac guy.
Sorry, dont have a mac. But i am willing to help in some other way.
If you have a use for a computer illiterate like me, i would be glad to help.

Would be great to see you around! There is much of documentation work to be done, and we'll get our own locales, which means we will need translators and reviewers (but not sure how long it will take us to build the infrastructure for that...).
Also we count on everyone to submit ideas and bugs. Feel free to drop some notes on everything that bothers you (in terms of NG). And of course spread the word!
Great to have you around!

Ok. Done. Just show me what you want done and what you use to do it.
Glad to be of help.

If you want to work on the player itself, good references are listed on the
Wiki: Coding Tutorials page. Lists of things to do are available at github, for both the
media player itself and
the website.
Documentation work is mostly in the
Wiki, if I remember right we currently do not have anybody working on a good end-user manual, and there are parts of the developer center missing (for the latter you should know a little bit about coding in general, and then have a look at Songbird's page for reference).
As I said before, the locale thing is not ready yet. Also, if you know something you would want to work on, feel free to add it to the suitable list at github and ask somebody to assign it to you. Of course you can also skip the latter part if you only want to see the issue tracked but not directly feel the urge to fix it personally.

How do I upload or add my Add On "SongbirdRemote/MobileDJ" ? It would appear I need access rights to upload / edit the wiki.
@SFCris
You now have rights to upload/edit on the wiki
