It builds but doesn't run...it crashes out and I don't even see the window...what files did you modify?

I just replaced the chrome and skin folders in the source directory with the chrome and skin folders from the feather. The "feathers" folder on github, needs to be modified to include the various make and install files from the source code.

Provided it builds on my end I'll push the skin to the nightingale-1.8 branch, since it's currently our "stable" version...

We need to start thinking about extensions and compatibility too...not sure we should worry with it on ngale 1.8, but for 1.10 i was thinking about continuing to use the songbird namespace so that songbird extensions and skins will be easier to port - we'll just have to make sure they work with xulrunner 6+.

+1 using same namespace
Alright, I got the feather to build in d3a0218. I posted it on my own repo, because I haven't gotten the hang of forks or branching yet (I had trouble even after reading githubs help site). Anyway see if it compiles. It compiled on a (mostly) stock install of LMDE 64-bit.

Hi,

I have downloaded nightingale on to my laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 and got it unpacked. I installed what was suggested in the read-me for ubuntu and the other requirements but I think I am still missing something. This is because when I click on build.sh I get a panel thing come up with four options including run which I click. From this point nothing happens.

Am I missing a package or something?

Thanks
You need to run build.sh in a terminal. If you just run it, it may work but you wouldn't know as there is no gui output only terminal output.

For some reason the source build did not download the necessary dependencies for me, so if you get an error you might have to download the dependencies manually from the link listed under the Developers section. And then manually copy the files into the dependencies folder.

I tried my best to get Nightingale 1.8 to compile, run, and look beautiful. The video player is very buggy, but I don't know if anyone uses the player enough to care.

The skin works now for me...

I've merged it and pushed it up to github. Could everyone please build and make sure for me that it works properly?

If it does, we should release 1.8 Friday, I have some stuff to do to the site and forums before then.

On Debian x86-64, everything seems to be in working order except for the video player which has a number of issues. I think it might be best to stress to people that the video player has cosmetic and functional issues and should be used with discretion. The video player has frozen my entire system twice.
