I've been working on a new website thing for quite a while now, so I guess I should write about it here.
First off, you can look at the current progress at http://humanoids.be/lab/ngale/tests/. Don't expect this to work. This is merely my personal staging and I'll break it whenever I want to.

The code for all of this can be found in the master branch of the nightingale-website repository.

You can already help to translate this version of the website into your language on Babelzilla.

Work is needed on the following aspects:
  • Finish the front page (images/video)
  • Add images to the feature page
  • Finish the branding page
  • Donation page refering to Bountysource (somewhat done)
  • Fix the grid layout everywhere. Because it's broken sometimes.

After all that's done the new website will probably be rolled out. And then the work shifts to a new forum, blog and wiki theme based on this new layout.

Things you could help with:
  • Assorting an official collection of Screenshots
  • Feature pictures for the featured page
  • Translate the strings on babelzilla
  • (Front-page video)

... sounds like work. But what you have looks great to me (except it redirects to the actual page like crazy, but that certainly won't be an issue once it rolls out).
I've added a list of things I would appreciate help from other for. You can of course help with other things too, but that's my highest priority stuff I'm unsure about. If you're unsure what exactly a list item involves, please contact me.

All the content of the new website is up for discussion, so don't hesitate to mention it!
For some days the default theme of the forum does no longer work for me (JS disabled, maybe that's related)... I wasn't able to find a way to login.

Also, is there a specific reason we have the new theming in the forums, but not in wiki/blog/home?
This theme does have some menus, but I think a login link should still be displayed by default. So it's possible the forum theme hides that behind js.
[EDIT]
Yes, it seems the user menu uses JS to display and hide. You can always switch to the NewGale theme, which might kill your eyes but should generally work much better without JS and is fixed width. You can find the theme switcher at the bottom of the page. If you want to permanently change your theme you can do so in your user settings.
[/EDIT]

The specific reason, why the new theme is only here (and on the dashboard) is, that I had to remake the theme for a forum upgrade (1.6.13 to 1.8) and didn't want to deal with the forum theme more than necessary, so I used the new style when converting the forum theme. Further we agreed earlier, that we'd roll out the new design instead of doing everything at once, though the plan was to first launch the new website. The new website isn't completely ready yet (I want to do some layout changes, then finalize the content to submit l10n and then fix all the style stuff that I can find) and I don't really have a lot of time to spend on it either.
For a non-web-guy like me your drafts looked quite ready besides actual content, so I just wondered. Wink

Yes, I'm doing that already. Disabled js should not break basic functionality imho, thus my post hoping that you might consider it when doing additional changes.

Yes, I didn't creagte this myBB them though (I'm not yet crazy), instead I just took the best available responsive theme and added the ngale header and footer. I will invest some time into trying to make that menu use css to show and disappear though. No promise that it'll be successfull.
The new CSS works for showing the menu, however selecting something in the menu hides it again. This is bad, as thus all items within the menu are not clickable... Maybe add some mouse hovering and/or additional rules for inner selections?
I think I fixed, that. WFM with the disable JS option.
