Welcome to yet another set of forums. This is our 5th forum... You know what they say! 5th time's a charm!

These new forums are being run by MyBB using a theme originally created by Justin S (http://mods.mybb.com/view/apart-1) which has been modified hugely by myself. For a comparison, just look at the screenshot in the theme's link.

There's still the wiki coming, the software of which still needs to be decided on & themed. I welcome you all back to Nightingale!
I'm glad we're up and running again. Hopefully no meltdowns this time!
Glad to see the site back up as well.
I'd like to introduce myself & offer my services to the project.

My name is Jesse,

I am big fan of Songbird, but was dismayed & irate beyond belief when they decided to drop Linux support.
So i'm very glad to see folks interested in picking up the pieces and driving forward continued linux support for what i think could be potentially one of the best audio players to date (especially in the linux arena, sorry folks Amarok SUCKS).

At any rate, I am a web developer, with a very broad and varied background.
Skills ranging from software development (Java, C++, VB, haven't worked with for many years, among several other languages i haven't touched for a long time)
Used to work as a Software Test Engineer for *shhhh* Microsoft. (Now i'm a devout Linux user & wouldn't go back to work for MS no matter how much they paid me (mostly true).) Doing testing, creating test automation & developing tools.
And then there's the endless system admin (in all but Mac OS) largely in linux. Building servers. Writing bash scripts to automate server automation, db maintenance.
And lets not forget my current occupation as a freelance Web Dev. doing a lot of PHP/Mysql/XHTML/CSS/Javascript development, CMS work as well, with a preference for Joomla.

I by no means consider myself a software developer, but am interested in doing more of this development work as i've been doing a lot of work with PHP lately.
I have no experience developing applications in linux environment however to date, web stuff aside. But i'd like to change that.

Oh i should also mention i'm a Kubuntu user largely for my day-to-day stuff. so i'd like to see this project not focus on just the Gnome side of things as i personally can't stand the Gnome interface. So if development on KDE will be equally stressed & my skillset can be of use, then i'm here to learn & help.

I work entirely from home these days, if you can call it that. I don't actually get paid as of yet, because i'm building several business's online & have a couple of projects i'm involved in (all web based stuff). Eagerly about to launch a project i've been working on for nearly 2yrs (for free yes). So i'm looking for new ventures to sink my time into. Although i'll be needing to finding some $$ making things to do as well because free don't pay the bills or put food on the table to-date. ;-)

Ok enough of my ramblings for now! Just wanted to throw that out there, as i'd like to see this project take off. Currently using Songbird 1.8.0b3, Build 1747 in Kubuntu, with ok success. Its usable, but there are several issues i have with some of the add-ons.
I like your enthusiasm & I don't mean to sound like a negative-nancy, but this should've gone in the Userspace section.

But other than that, it sounds like you've got quite a lot of experience! The 3 languages you mentioned (Java, C++, VB) I don't personally know. I do know ones with similar names (JavaScript, C, VB).

Nice to have you on board! And you too pennomi!

About these forums (and the website in general too), I think they are better than the previous one. It is more convenient to see new replies.
Wow. thats a really cool Forum system. It's one of the best I've ever seen.

1) Nightingale will be written in many languages & .NET is not one of them. See here: http://getnightingale.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2

2) Thank you. The old forums were packaged inside the Drupal system & therefore not very good without addons.

That's why I put them up! I've used these forums before & been VERY impressed by them, so I put them up here.
