I have an entire library of mp4s which were converted from Flac.
I'm trying to use Nightingale instead of Songbird even though it doesn't adequately
support flac files. But now I see it does not fully support mp4s either.

Album artist does not show up for any of the songs in the library. The album artist is contained in the file under the standard mp4 tag. In this case Adofo Carabelli.

Maybe the taglib buid on OSX is outdated? I just read through the code I have built into windows, and there is some mp4 reading code which should support additional stuff. If you have a file that is public domain or published under a free license causing this bug, feel free to attach it here or link to it and I can have a look at that (on Windows).

I've tried this with mp4, Apple losssless, ACC, and HE-ACC,
m4a which is mp4, mp3 and flac.

Mp3 and flac work. mp4 does not.

Ok. here's one. Album artist is not shown. or not. It seems the file is too big
to upload. I'll try making a short one.

Atomic parsley reports this.

Ok. this one is small enough, but I can't load a file of this type. If you have suggestions on how to upload an mp4 file I will. I

Can't you zip it and attach the zip? We do allow zip and tar archives and gzipped-files (*.gz) with up to 1 MB. Alternately, you can use some external hosting such as dropbox...

Still didn't like, Here's a dropbox link.

Today I'm getting my linux VM setup so I can try it there and also compare the build processes between OS X and Linux.

I can confirm on windows: everything is imported fine expect for the album artist. Additionally the BPM/tmpo tag isn't imported either.
The same on my elementary OS with bundled taglib from the PPA build.

It's seems to be even worse on Linux. The only field that came in was the song title.
Flac is better, but is also missing album artist.
It could be my install of ubuntu 13. It can't even play mpeg 3 layer 1 files.
It can play the flac file.

Is there a linux distro that might work better? I'm not particularly fond of ubuntu.

I have not been able to find any reference to Album Artist in the taglib documentation.
I recall that album artist as well as a few other obvious fields were not supported by taglib at one time. I am not sure if that has changed.
