After re-looking at the logs, I don't think it has anything to the Unity extension. The last log does have the libunity assertion failure, which I initially thought was the problem, but that shouldn't (and didn't I guess) cause the other crashes...
Since you tried in safe mode and that log doesn't have any output about the Unity extension, I'd have to say it's something else. I jumped the gun on the first fix, granted it was something that needed to be fixed, but that wouldn't have caused stack smashing... Gotta be a buffer overflow.

Have you ever had this happen before the 13104 build?

No, never. Having said that, it is intermittent, so I might have just been lucky.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, I made a debug build that should give more details when run from the command line. Hopefully the problem will reappear and we can really fix it this time lol

Sorry, but Nightingale has been unusable for weeks now, since playcounts were broken in the stable Ubuntu repo version, and this bug in the nightlies was a total show-stopper, since I wasn't in the position to restart my computer so frequently.

Unfortunately, I've moved to another music player (Amarok), so I can't help debug Nightingale any more. Good luck with the project, though.
