Look, i can understand the ways to do a fork to linux from songbird , because you would like to work more on this project to focus on it, ok...

but, builds nightningale to mac, and windows.
Sorry, but you are doing a redundant
(look, consider my comment, i'm not doing a "troll" but do a question to all to rethink our future, I am one of the most active translators in songbird to portuguese BR http://translate.songbirdnest.com/langua...R?id=pt-BR )

look, you couldn't adapted the mac build yed how you can see...
"Mac builds coming in the next version (stable)"
http://getnightingale.com/all-versions.php

You could do something that would be a more Censat forks ONLY LINUX
look i think you wasting ammo building all the os

other thinks, you've not adapted the recomended addons that are official on songbird like "cd rip" , "lastafm audio scrobbler" and "concersts" like you can see
http://developer.songbirdnest.com/builds...st/addons/

I thought nightingale ,the fork of songbird, would be something that is not iceweasel to firefox , building only sofware to linux...
fork a project but to focus on linux
it is good that does not appear as direct competitor but as a means of partnerships ...

anyway, for what is decided, or maintained, I wish the team a great job

I think you aren't looking at this the right way. We have the possibility to do more than just build a version of Songbird for Linux. We are, for starters, updating the version of xulrunner that will be used by Nightingale. By building a fork, we, as a community can decide on what changes we want to be implemented. The vision that POTI has for Songbird seems to have gone downhill or maybe that's just my impression. And as for people who say "Banshee, Amarok, Rhthymbox, etc. is the best music app ever! Why would you ever want to use anything else?!" I would respond that i just don't like those players. We can make something better than Songbird.

As Timmythepirate pointed out, we have no intention of doing only the compartibility work. The project's aim is a better media player, which isn't possible at POTI currently, and it seems that they want to change to something new (not sure if open-source or not). A linux-only project would exclude Windows or Mac users from the new features within Nightingale, and make it difficult to support those OS later if Songbird changes to a new platform. We can't blame Songbird for dropping Linux support if we drop support for other OS as well IMHO.

That's right, forking will allow us to do more since POTI didn't do much open source code lately...
We can expect new XULRunner version, as well as core features !

Iceweasel is not a good example since it's just Firefox with some different branding... we want to do more Smile

I think another thing everyone has to consider, is that many people run multiple platforms in their homes. I run linux and windows. I would hate to have nightingale on only one platform, while finding an alternative for the rest of my computers.

I think the focus should be on Linux but if a developer wants to work on windows and osx support there is no reason to stop them as the more developers the better Nightingale will become.

True, but it's also true that once we get more up to date forking of songbird done, the build system will better support mac and windows. Any specific features or fixes for those two OSes, however, will need to be done by someone who uses the OSes...
