Maybe this is just me, but I think completely native-looking music players look goofy. Rhythmbox for example, looks really horrible in my opinion and iTunes looks goofy on Mac because it looks just like the file browser. And for the title bar, would it be possible to have a "Use System Title Bars and Borders" toggle option like in Chrome?

I don't think Rhythmbox looks bad, it just doesn't work the way I want it to.

Correct, but it wouldn't look worse or better than any other application.

That was intended. There is also another mockup with blue color, which is more the native selection color. Changing the color values shouldn't be a problem.

The sidebar looks ugly but overall, Rhythmbox doesn't look too bad, I think.

I guess, most people want a more native theme. There was huge request for it and I like it better either. But all the others can of course install their own themes. It's impossible to create a theme that satisfies all.

Having options both ways sounds nice...

Skins that do use system title bar, skins that don't...

Skins that have a native look, skins that don't...

IMHO are we developing for a specific OS? I always thought this is meant to look nice in any standard GTK or QT based desktop environment, and then later on maybe make some windows and mac builds...

I think that's the most important thing - that the end result is pretty. I think a lot of people would be upset if Nightingale looked great in KDE, but looked goofy in GNOME. The end result should be beautiful regardless of the DE.

I saw what you've done. It's a great feather! I can't wait to see it replace Nightingale's modified version of purple-rain.

Considering that the feather is mostly complete, should we go ahead and add the new feather into the source tree? I've managed to get the feather working (kind of) in Nightingale and it seems to be complete enough that we can meet all of the Songbird licensing requirements.

We might. But please don't bundle any release before I have examined the finished theme. As the original author of the theme I don't want to release stubs if you understand what I mean.

As I said here is a preview of the feather :

So this feather works only on Songbird 1.8 as of now.

There is still work to do on it to polish it, get the orange version to work too and of course make it works with Nightingale.

@Timmythepirate
What steps did you do to get the feather working with Nightingale ? I did looks but it seems we need to change lots of references...
Posted a bit more information on the development on the wiki :
