I have two big problems:
- I can't import anything. I have tried everything. I go to File &t Import Media &t (choose folder) ... and nothing happens. The folder has a lot of songs.
- I can't play anything. I go to File &t Open file &t (choose file) ... and then I see the question "What should Nightingale do with this file?"
The software: Nightingale 1.12.1
My system: KDE Neon 5.11.3

I know there is a thread from a few years ago about playing M4A files, but the advice there is to install Quicktime. And since then, from what I can tell, there basically IS no more current Quicktime install. If you go to Apple's Quicktime site, they say
"QuickTime 7 for Windows is no longer supported by Apple. New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled. All current Windows web browsers support video without the need for browser plug-ins. "
I actually had Quicktime on my old laptop, and Nightingale couldn't play many M4A files. It seems like it isn't the most popular format but I'm seeing more of it recently. Any thoughts on how to make it work in the post-Quicktime era?]]>

In fact, each time I try to move a song in the playlist window on the right (with drag and drop), a new entry is well created for the song at the target position but the selected song al0os keeps its initial position (=&t song duplicated at 2 different positions)
This behaviour makes me crasy and I can not take time to delete the initial entry each time I want to move a song in the play list ...

I have even gone back to mp3s I tagged with Nightingale previously, to edit the comment, and when I do this it truncates the field and I can't put it back the way it was.

I’m using nightingale on Linux (LM 17.1 Cinnamon). Is there any option, feature or add-on to display the total play time of my selected playlist?
This feature would also be nice for play queue or the songs, that have been selected.

The only problem is that the album covers not showing in nightingale and the windows preview image, most other music player have no problem at all.

some days ago I had a bluesrceen on my windows 7 computer when connecting my mobile phone. At this moment Nightingale was open in the Sync folder but not running.
After the automatic reboot of my computer I did a test with chkdsk which ended without problems.
If I start Nightingale now I have similar problems as another user is having at the moment: all my playlists are gone. Only the folders of the playlists are visible. I have already opened the main database of Nightingale with SQLiteManager in Firefox which was possible without problems. The playlists still seem to be in the database. It is possible to see my playlists with the Add-On "Playlist Export Tool" and in the Sync-folder. I did a test with exporting one of the playlists successfully, so it seems I might get them back.
But when I create a playlist it is only visible as long as Nightingale is open. As soon as I close and reopen Nightingale it isn't visible any more. So there is probably something broken in my profile.
If I add a new profile everything seems to be ok but of course I haven't got the data of the old profile.
Is there a way to find the broken piece of my profile so that I can transfer the data from the broken profile to a new profile?
I would really like to keep my playlists, my song ratings and the "item-added" entries of my database. Does anybody know how to do this?
I already tried with the Add-On RatingFile but this stops without any notification at 94%. I didn't find any temp-data where I could see on which data record the problem occured.

I was able to run it the first time. It breaks after extension
install. I removed it and installed it again. Same problem.
Removed .nightingale from home directory.
Again the same problem.
Tried without extensions... Same.

I want to disable *all* the display panes, and by disable I don't mean hide the slider off to the side, I want the sliders gone too. I want to see only what is displayed within the main frame.
So far I can't find any way to accomplish this.
I've checked out "about:config" and see there are options for:
songbird.displayPanes.displaypane_contentpane_bottom.isHidden
songbird.displayPanes.displaypane_right_sidebar.isHidden
songbird.displayPanes.displaypane_servicepane_bottom.isHidden
Their values are defaulted to 0, so I figured if I changed it to 1 the panes might disappear, but they don't, and the values get reset when I close and open the program again.

I've been using Nightingale for a long time, and constructed all my playlists and smart playlists within Nightingale. I opened up Nightingale one day to find that all the playlists (of both kinds) were gone.
I've searched both the Nightingale program files and the roaming data in the Users folder, but can't find anything that looks like a file extension name that I could try and re-import into Nightingale.
Where would I find the playlists that Nightingale creates? Does anyone know what might have caused this problem and how I might reverse it? Could it be an update of some kind?
In the event that it might be an addon update, I'll include a list of them that are currently running on my Nightingale.

They only thing that worked was enable Auto-fetch Album Artwork in Preferences, remove the directory that needs rescanning from ~/Music, wait a bit, and move it back. Normally, enabling this option is not needed for Nightingale to notige the ID3 artwork. Is this the most appropriate way?
Additional question is the following. When copying artwork from track menu item View Metadata, the artwork is recoded to jpeg when it is originally png. Is this done on purpose? Ths causes undesired effects when copying from track 1 (png) to track 2 - track 10 (jpeg). To keep all in sync, one needs to copy from 1 to 1 to 10 but png quality is lost. Anyone has thought on this]]>
